Overview

Mason’s Science Communication Program offers exciting, engaging, and rewarding graduate learning opportunities geared toward future scholars and practitioners. These opportunities are organized into 3 graduate areas:

  1. Graduate Certificate in Science Communication

  1. MA degree – Science Communication Specialization

  1. Ph.D. degree – Science Communication emphasis

Each area consists of courses on science communication theory and best practices. Students create original scholarship (i.e., research proposals, scholarly articles, public outreach materials, etc.) on the role of effective communication in shaping attitudes, discourse, and engagement toward contentious science issues. This work is also tailored to various researcher and practitioner audiences.

Students also have the opportunity to take courses in other areas within our Communication graduate program that further enhance their interests, including health communication and strategic communication.

All classes that start no earlier than 4:30 pm and are friendly both to full-time as well as part-time/working graduate students.
