Position: Senior Lecturer, School of Communication, Journalism & Marketing; Massey University, New Zealand
What I do: I research science and health communication and teach courses related to Risk and Crisis Communication and Public Relations to undergraduates and postgraduates. My goal is to understand and help vulnerable communities adapt to climate change impacts.
The Mason difference: At Mason, I learned not only how to rigorously develop and apply novel theories in science communication but how to translate it into public action. I am very proud of my GMU connection!
Position: Research Assistant Professor, Center for Climate Change Communication at George Mason University
What I do: I am a Research Assistant Professor at George Mason University’s Center for Climate Change Communication where I conduct research on science, environmental, and risk communication to increase public engagement with climate change. I also work on the Climate Change in the American Mind project, a series of national public opinion surveys carried out in partnership with the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication to investigate and track public attitudes toward climate change and support for climate policies in the United States.
The Mason difference: Part of what I makes the experience at Mason so special is the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research that doesn’t just live in academic journals but also helps make a difference in real-world communication efforts that address some of our biggest societal challenges. Moreover, I received excellent mentorship and camaraderie from faculty and students alike during my PhD.
Position: Social Scientist, Climate Advocacy Lab
What I do: To support the climate change advocacy community of practice in the US, I conduct applied research, synthesize and translate existing literature, and advise practitioners on evidence-based best practices and research design principles.
The Mason difference: George Mason is the epicenter of graduate training in climate change communication, with a commitment to both rigorous scholarship and value of applied research. My Mason degree gave me the skills, knowledge and connections to make an impact that I couldn't have gotten literally anywhere else.

Position: Director of Analytics, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research
What I do: I manage a three-person analytics team working to create strategic insights from large amounts of quantitative public opinion survey data.
The Mason difference: There's nothing more valuable than getting training in rigorous science communication research, with equal focus on strong theory and practical application, within an extremely supportive environment. Also, being so close to the nation's capital and the many science organizations located there is invaluable. I can't think of anywhere better for a science communication degree than GMU.
