Engaging with Stakeholders
We apply our social science research to help strengthen science communication efforts within government agencies, non-profit organizations, and elsewhere.
Examples of current projects include:
- Engaging the public health/medical communities on the health impacts of climate change and health benefits of climate action as part of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health. The Consortium recently published a Call to Action for public health officials to take a more active role in climate action.
- Helping meteorologists and journalists effectively communicate about climate change impacts and solutions as part of Climate Matters.
- Promoting climate change engagement among politically conservative “free-market climate realists, as part of an ongoing collaboration with RepublicEn. The group is led by former six-term Republican Congressman Bob Inglis from South Carolina’s 4th District, who received the 2015 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for his “visionary and courageous” leadership on climate change.
- Evaluating the efficacy of immersive science communication training workshops for scientists, in partnership with the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science.
- Developing/testing new climate change public engagement methods, in partnership with government agencies, associations, and businesses.
